Grace and Frankie will soon return for its seventh and final season on Netflix after significant production delays. Netflix”s oldest show will end after 7 seasons and 94 episodes. It”s no surprise that it was one of the oldest Netflix shows with Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin leading and being created by NBC”s Friends showrunner (no longer on Netflix in the US) Marta Kauffman.
6th season Grace and Frankie was made available on Netflix on January 15, 2020 globally, and we originally imagined that the final season would arrive in January 2021, but as you probably noticed, the series has been postponed.
Season 7, as the story ends, is likely to see a return to Season 1 in the sense that all four main characters may end up living under one roof, but for now, the story of Season 7 is under wraps.

Why is Grace & Frankie”s 7th season the last?
On a string of tweets on September 4, 2019, we heard that Grace and Frankie it had already been renewed before its launch date for the 6th season of January 2020. The official Twitter account also confirmed the news that the 7th season is coming, with the exception that the 7th season will also be the last.
In the ad, here”s what Lily and Jane said about the program”s closure:
“We are very grateful that our show was able to deal with issues that really connected our great generation. And your kids, and surprisingly, your kids too! We will miss these two old girls, Grace and Frankie, as much as many of their fans, but we will still be around. “
Marta Kauffman and Howard J. Morris, who run the show, said:
“It is exciting and somehow appropriate that our program about the challenges, as well as the beauty and dignity of aging, is the oldest program on Netflix.”
Officially, we don”t know why Netflix chose Season 7 to be the last, but it”s probably due to the producers wanting to end the series.
However, it does not meet the oldest and most traditional goal of programs reaching 100 episodes, which has been advantageous in the past, but has apparently become less relevant in the era of streaming.
Marta Kauffman already has several new projects in the workplace Grace and Frankie according to an interview with Rolling Stone. This includes a pilot going to TNT and a script based on the book We are all completely different from ourselves.
Where is Grace & Frankie season 7 in production?
Grace and Frankie began production shortly after the launch of Season 6 on Netflix. In fact, filming for the seventh season originally started on January 27, 2020.
In March 2020, however, production on the show was stopped along with other Netflix productions, such as Russian doll season 2 (among countless others) as the global Coronavirus pandemic took its toll on productions. Of course, this made the estimated release of January 2021 unattainable.
In April 2020, to continue preparing for the inevitable return to production, the cast and crew of Grace and Frankie did a special live table reading of an upcoming episode in season 7. The table read was supporting Meals on Wheels.
Without news during the summer of 2020, some feared that the show could follow GLOW”s path and never return. Fortunately, it ended up not being the case when Jane Fonda posted on her blog about her plans for the holiday season, which included a snippet of information about the future of the program.
In the post, stated that they are currently planning to continue filming in early June 2021. She added a little more about why the delay is so long, saying: “A long time to wait, but, given the age and vulnerability of the 4 leads, it is better. I”ll be going to 84 when we”re done. Damn it!”

Season 7 will be an expanded final season for Grace and Frankie
That”s right, all of Grace and Frankie”s previous seasons have had 13 episodes each. This will not be the case for Season 7, as it has been confirmed that Season 7 will have 16 episodes, which, as mentioned above, brings the total count of episodes in the series to 94.
Will Dolly Parton be in Grace and Frankie”s 7th season?
The rumors over the years about Dolly”s participation in Grace and Frankie have somehow never materialized.
However, in February 2021, Dolly Parton was being interviewed in Lorraine, UK, where she revealed that this could become a reality. After all, Dolly Parton is/is working on several Netflix projects.
In the interview, Parton said: “We work so well together in 9 to 5, it is a crazy and wonderful show. ” adding

When will be the 7th season of Grace and Frankie launch on Netflix?
Seasons 4, 5 and 6 were released on Netflix in the first month of the year.
That’s why we were originally predicting the 7th season of Grace and Frankie will be on Netflix in January 2021.
With the resumption of production in the summer of 2021 (and some filming already completed), it is possible that we can see the show return to its normal January schedule, that is, January 2022.
