Killer Hunt (2013)
If last week I talked about Max Payne with Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis (in my summer special), this week I’m going to talk about Killer Hunt starring Nicolas Cage, John Cusack and Vanessa Hudgens. You may not see the relationship with the naked eye, but it is, it is.
The film is written and directed by Scott Walker, and is his debut feature. I really enjoy getting involved with the topic of translating titles, but this time they were crowned. The movie is originally titled: The Frozen Ground, which is almost poetic. Well, here in Spain they thought, there’s a killer being chased by a policeman, the killer is a hunter, well, why don’t we call the killer Hunt… anyway.
Killer Hunt Synopsis
The film, based on real events, tells how police officer Jack Halcombe (Nicolas Cage) goes to great lengths to catch serial killer Robert Hansen (John Cusack), along with his inseparable Sergeant Lyle (dean norris).
The action that takes place in Alaska shows us a psychopath, disguised as a family man and exemplary citizen, who is dedicated to attracting young people who he kidnaps, tortures and rapes, to end up taking them to a remote place with his plane. to free them and in a false sense of freedom, hunt them down with your rifle.
To catch him and prove that Hansen is guilty of so many unsolved murders, Agent Halcombe will have the “collaboration” of Cindy Paulson (Vanessa Hudgens), the only victim who managed to escape the serial killer. Although at first the police do not believe the young woman’s version, it will be Agent Halcombe who will completely trust her word to carry out their investigation.
movie review
Well let’s see. The movie is what it is, it has a lot of suspense but very little intrigue. Without knowing the story, everything is very predictable, not surprising at any time. Well, yes, when they take the figures of the victim of evil this is born.
I think mainly Killer Hunt fails in the intensity and the unfolding of its script. The performances of the two male leads are good. For Cage there are no words, we already know what it is. It’s enough for Cusack to put on an I’m a really bad person face all the time. The one that really surprised me was Vanessa Hudgens. I won’t say that her acting is better, but at least her character is very interesting. I think a big part of it is that the story is based, in part, on what is told by the real Cindy Paulson.
In short, the movie is good, without freaking out because the story is the same as always and doesn’t bring differentiating elements, besides the fact that it’s based on real events. The performances are correct and, to be honest, it is enough to have the presence of Vanessa Hudgens.
