Underworld
We have often seen productions in which vampires and werewolves clashed, although until the arrival of Underworld, his past was not so rich. But we are not going to anticipate events, because here I talk about exactly that movie, after reviewing your plot a little bit.
The war between vampires and lycanthropes has been fought for centuries using humanity, which does not know all its intricacies, as mere food. But it seems that one side has taken a big step forward in this dispute. As Lucian (interpreted by Michael Sheen), werewolf leader, found a human named Michael Corvin (Scott Speedman), which appears to be decisive in the conflict. Vampires also want to put their claws in it, and it's Selene (Kate Beckinsale), an expert vampire warrior, in charge of that mission. But, throughout it, you will discover that this war holds darker secrets than the nocturnal beings that wage it.
Visually, something bad has aged. Remember, this is a 2003 film and it looks much smaller than many of the mid-90s. It was a matter of budget, of course. The action scenes with their clear influence from Matrix and BladeThey also have somewhat forced choreographies at times, but most of the time they comply. The soundtrack itself withstood the passage of time with some grace. Now, you have to like metal themes, since it dominates and accompanies, perfectly in my opinion, the action scenes.
In the cast, we find consolidated actors and actresses. The protagonism falls Kate Beckinsale, who certainly was not intimidated by this challenge. Although I do not miss the opportunity to highlight the brilliant interpretation of Bill nighy like Viktor and Michael Sheen like Lucian. The film's director is Len Wiseman, who showed us a confrontation between these two creatures of the horror classics as we have never seen before.
This is, in fact, the great attraction of this movie: your history. This way of showing society, with its hierarchies and internal disputes, of vampires and lycanthropes. Something that elevates the category of the main premise, which is nothing more than nocturnal beings seeing their faces. Although not everything is so good in this production. And he has a very important rhythm problem. It starts off very promising, but is cut in a few minutes of filming, and this frantic action does not resume until well after half the tape.
In short, Underworld It has not aged very well, especially visual and rhythm, but this rich history that manages to save the film. Over time, it has been shown that there were more than scratches in the last, but I will talk about that later.
Like the weapons of the last century, we would also become obsolete.
